Major Events & Festivals
Fredericksburg is home to more than 400 festivals and special events each year. Yes, that’s more than one festival or special event per day, so there is certainly always something fun going on!
You’ll want to plan ahead for major events and festivals like Oktoberfest, the largest festival in Fredericksburg, taking place the first weekend of October each year. The three-day festival of Fredericksburg’s German roots includes multiple stages of oompah music and all the German eats and drinks you could imagine.
Also in October are the Knights of Columbus Bestfest, a celebration of craft beer and polka, and the Fredericksburg Food & Wine Fest with more than 50 Texas wineries and dozens of Texas food producers gathering in downtown Fredericksburg for a tasty day.
During the holiday season, things stay festive with Fredericksburg's Christmas Nights of Lights, transforming Marktplatz into a winter wonderland from the week of Thanksgiving through Epiphany. And the first Friday in December features the annual Light the Night Christmas Parade down Main Street, shopping events and more.
Spring features a Bluegrass Festival at Luckenbach Texas and Becker Vineyards' annual Lavender Festival.
Summer favorites include the Hill Country Film Festival, Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo in June, Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks, Gillespie County Fair in August, Summer Horse Racing, Grape Stomps at local wineries and more.
